Today is day number 9 of my preop preparation for my bariatric revision. Surgery is set for December 23rd, Merry Christmas to me! I am supposed to have two protein shakes a day and a small meal 400 calories or under. Did it go that way? Not really. I decided to try to make a Frappuccino-type drink… total disaster! It came out a tasteless, watery waste. I choked down half of it and couldn’t manage the rest. But I learned some things. I ended up going another route with a small meal of chicken, mac and cheese (about 2 Tb) and mashed potatoes, to which I added my protein powder. Dinner was a small salad with chicken, bacon bits, diced egg and a small amount of cheese and some dressing. So I did stay in the 800 calorie range, I just didn’t have my protein shakes like I should have.

Some days are like this. I try not to beat myself up. I’m really trying to follow the instructions, there have been a few exceptions, but mostly on track. Tomorrow begins the work week, I have all the things ready at work, just have to prep my frozen fruit packets and I’m all ready to go! I am out of yogurt though… so until I can get to the store tomorrow night my shakes will be a bit thinner. I’ll put some information on what I use to blend my protein shakes on my next update – it’s a nifty gadget and works really well!
